The Winchester Ranch south of Pincher Creek, Alberta, was the site of two days of CKC herding trials hosted by the Cardigan Corgi Club of Canada and the Australian Cattle Dog Club of Canada. Gathered to compete were Cardigan corgis, Shetland Sheepdogs, Belgian Shepherds, Australian Cattle Dogs, Bearded Collies, border collies and a Rin Tin Tin, according to one of the spectators. And in the end, after three trials, Hunter, the German shepherd came away with a High in Trial 95/100, and two Reserve High in Trial Awards 85/100 and 96/100 to gain his CKC Herding Started Title.
Thank you to my herding partner, Lore Bruder, for selflessly sharing the knowledge she gleaned from clinics I couldn't attend, and for teaching me Sheep 101, so that I would have a clue as to how sheep behave, for without that, none of the above would have been possible.
