Little Dog..... Big Attitude

Dog Days of Summer '14

Ta Da!!!  Just received notice from the AKC that both Drummer and Castle now have been registered across the line and can now compete in performance and conformation events!
Sent my entries to Great Falls and Castle is now entered, our camping spot is confirmed, and we are waiting on Drummer's entry.
Rally O ring is waiting for us.

Trailer almost packed for Alberta Kennel Club dog show this weekend.  None of my dogs are entered in obedience or rally, but both are doing NADAC agility Intro courses.  I am so excited.

My nephew and niece and friends from Jaffray will be joining us with their Labrador retrievers and standard poodles and we look forward to a really great time camping..... even if the damn air conditioner on the Open Range is not working.  Nice to find that out... we have a fix-it appointment for Tuesday, August 4th, at Runners in Cranbrook.  Yippeee.
Oh, Castle and Drummie and our Due South Scent hurdle team perform two nights as well.

Then, it's home for a week of herding trials and clinics at the Winchester Cattle Co. just south of Pincher Creek. We invite everyone to come out during the day Tuesday, -Thursday to see some All breed herding.  It will be very interesting as some of the breeds entered include Belgian and German shepherds, Cardigan corgis, Shetland Sheepdogs,  and Australian cattle dogs.

Thank God, Shar and I booked our dogs and us into a cool little cabin in Castlegar for their show weekend.  We can van it with our three dogs.  Again, no CKC obedience or rally o, just going for the Scent Hurdle action, the first of its kind in BC.  We are so looking forward to our 'blended' team with a cocker spaniel from Vancouver and a shetland sheepdog from Calgary joining our motley crew!!!

Then, it's a fly-by for Drummer and Castle at Cranbrook as we drive in, scent hurdle, and drive out.

The Great Falls weekend is next and I just know we will have a good time visiting with our other Canuck entries, Carol, Tubby, Joan, and Maureen.  It's always a good time in their company.

Maureen makes us laugh until our faces hurt.  Nobody can be nervous about competing with
that kind of kibitzing going on.

Keep up the momentum.  Darryl and I head out for Regina and a weekend of judging my favorite dog sport,  the Draft Dog tests.  This year Draft Dog, and Draft Dog Excellent, as well as braces in both Draft dog and Draft dog Excellent classes are offered.  I am so fortunate to judge with my good friend and mentor, Pauline Baldwin, and our friend, Lisa Williams and to be with Gwen Haynes and the members of the Regina Club.

And after that, enough already.  We will take a well-deserved break.

NONE OF THIS COULD BE ACCOMPLISHED IF IT WERE NOT FOR OUR GOOD FRIEND, DEB GOLDING, WHO LOOKS AFTER THE KENNEL AND THE DOGS, CATS AND HORSES  WHILE WE ARE GONE.  AND, OF COURSE, KUDOS TO OUR CLIENTS, WHO DO THEIR OWN KENNEL BOOKINGS AND PICK-UPS AMIDST THE RIOT.  WE LOVE YOU.

Oh, and did I mention that somewhere in between August 4th and 14th, we do need to do Darryl's dill pickles.  No clapping.  We know you can't wait.

Wish us well.

Team and Brace work from Ev Kenny Dog Show

Won't enter brace again.  Big mouth at ringside ruined the
entire mood.  Supposed to be fun. Destroyed that thought.
                                          Jeez.
