Little Dog..... Big Attitude

Home from the Island

Drummer and I travelled to Cobble Hill, BC, for the CKC Herding Showcase.  Drummer was amazing!  Me..... not so much.  I made some costly errors in handling the challenging courses.  Just nerves, but it cost us dearly.  We did manage to take 5th place in Trial 2 and it was difficult with sheep in a pen in the middle of the course and sheep at the take pen as well to draw the sheep on course in two directions.
Drummer took control right off the bat and he was just so beautiful to watch at what he so naturally does.  I did not remember to take the sheep back to the final cone before starting my obstacles.  Damn. Cost us 24 points.
The last day we had a fun match that was actually fun.  We had to take three sheep from the take pen,  fetch or drive them to a table across the arena, mix a drink for the judge (non-alcoholic) deliver sheep and drink, fetch or drive sheep between a couple of barrels set six feet apart, then take them to the bottom end of the arena and pen them.  Go to the next pen and take out three new sheep, fetch or drive them between a sheep panel and an an agility barrel laid on its side,  and then go up to four cones set out in a square with 20 feet between each of them and do 360's around each cone before taking the sheep through an agility tire frame and then repen them within a ten minute time period.  Drummer had no problems with any of it, including the agility frame (he got all three through).  I don't know how we made out because I just did the run and then left for Duncan as the weather was still rainy.
It poured for three days straight.  I could not live on the Island. Even though we returned home in a gale, and the landing was something else, I was so happy to see blue sky!!!
