Little Dog..... Big Attitude

Snow day

Today dawned crisp and cold here at Shadowbar with a temperature of -20C.  Even the dogs with heavy coats were reluctant to be outdoors for any length of time.  NOT a day for sheepherding.
So we waited for the sun.  And it came, but it brought very little warmth to the day.

Still, a tired dog is not a bored dog and so Token, Drummer and I braved the cold and took one boarding dog at a time to play in the top pasture.  First was the boxer, Sketch, who is not ready to play with other dogs at this time. So my dogs raced along one side of the pasture fence and Sketch raced along his side for a short time, and then the weather took its toll and his feet became cold. Back to the kennel and a warm-up.

Next to brave the elements was Dash, the pit bull x, who played like a pro with both our old shepherd and our young sheltie.  He was so respectful it was beautiful to watch.

The dogs dashed around the pasture having a great time.

After a good romp, we took Dash back to the kennel where he had a nap.

And last of all, we took Charlie the bull mastiff out to run, without the sheltie.
Charlie started out to be rather overbearing for a 10 1/2 yr. old shepherd and I stepped in a couple of times to referee and redirect, but he got it sorted out and decided that fetching a stick would be a good alternate behavior to terrorizing Token.

Tonight the temperature has fallen once more and all the dogs are happy to be in their heated kennel watching a movie on tv.
And waiting for Christmas Eve.
